10-1/2" Gimbaled Compass, with Port/Starboard Balls

Here is a wonderful desk piece reminicent of the Sailor's binnacle used throughout the history of nautical navigation. The overall length of the piece is 10-1/2" and the compass face is 4", and it includes the Port (red) and Starboard (green) balls that were used to compensate and adjust for the magnetic field of the ship. The compass works very well, although not recommended for navigation, and the brass construction comes with a beautiful golden patina that will deepen with age. A wonderful gift for the sailor in your family or for someone who loves the sea!
